Description of the collection
Ca. 2800 pamphlets produced chiefly in the late 19th and early 20th century, focusing on Yorkshire and the North of England. The main subject areas include British geology and palaeontology and British natural history. There are also works on archaeology and antiquities, anthropology, mineralogy and zoology. A number of publications relate to research and excursions by local (Yorkshire) societies, biography, and material relating to meetings of the British Association for the Advancement of Science. British local history and museums are also represented. In addition, there are a number of theological works including sermons, and pamphlets relating to churches, their construction, ornamentation, decoration and activities.
