Description of the collection

In general the Enk collection is strongest in Latin authors and critical works; it contains all the most important editions of all major Latin authors and many minor ones. The pamphlet collection contains mainly reprints and reviews.

Provenance

Dr Petrus Johannes Enk (1885-1960), Professor Emeritus of Latin Languages and Literature in the University of Groningen. Collection purchased by the College in 1961, consisting of books, papers and 3,000 pamphlets.

The pamphlets are currently on closed access, awaiting conservation and processing. Inventories, arranged by author or by subject, are available of the entire Enk pamphlet collection. Pre-1801 pamphlets from the collection are in the care of the College's Foyle Special Collections Library.
