Description of the collection

The collection covers a very broad range of subjects, including philosophy, psychology, religion, archaeology, history, geography - including voyages and travels, economics - including economic history, transportation, commerce and finance, sociology, social and public welfare, political science, law, education, fine arts, languages and literature - including philology and linguistics, Classical, Romance, English, Germanic, Oriental, East Asian and African languages and literatures, science and technology.

Language(s) of the material

Mainly English, but significant numbers of French and German. Basque, Burmese, Danish, Dutch, Greek (classical, New Testament and modern), Hebrew, Hungarian, Inuit, Italian, Latin, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai and Turkish are also represented in varying numbers.

Access

Pamphlets are available for consultation by visitors to the Library, and many pamphlets printed after 1850 are also available for inter-library loan. The pamphlet collection is held in the Library Store, so you are advised to place requests for the pamphlets you wish to consult, in advance of your visit, via our library online catalogue.
